My vision for Ballyfermot-Drimnagh
My vision is for everyone to be able to live fulfilled lives in a healthy environment.
What I stand for
I believe in working collaboratively with community groups to support sustainable and people-centred development. I want each member of the community and consideration for the environment placed at the centre of every decision taken by local and national governments, and I want to work to create a strong community that secures social justice for generations to come.
- Well being. I want to promote preventive care community centres for mental and physical health to open seven days a week. I want institutions like hospital, prisons and schools to offer fresh, local and organic food on their menu to battle obesity and to lower HSE costs.
- Affordable Housing. Housing needs to become a human right in Ireland, not an option. I will push for the construction of high standard, affordable and social housing to be delivered with the necessary transport and other infrastructures to ensure sustainable livability.
- Transport. I believe priority should be given to public transport and soft modes of transport, like walking, cycling and scooting. Cars should be the last option, and car owners and professional drivers should be driving safely and in harmony with all modes of transport.
- I will put the environment and safeguarding our public spaces at the heart of every decision I make. I will pressure Dublin City Council to protect and enhance public spaces, to care for them without using pesticides/herbicides, and to promote local producers markets.
I am a ‘Healthy Food Made Easy’ group leader with the Ballyfermot-Chapelizod Partnership, delivering the workshops in local schools, community centers and Ballyfermot Library. I am the founder/Chairperson of FLAM Dublin (French Mother-tongue Classes for Children) in Inchicore, and I am also an active Committee member of the ETHX Campaign group: working to secure a secondary school in Dublin South Central area, that would follow the Educate Together ethos. I Hold a Masters in Town Planning from UCD and have I experience working in the planning department of Tipperary County Council.
